Saint John Vianney Regional School CYO Sports
Principles of fair play and sportsmanship must govern every game.
Dishonesty has no place in Catholic-sponsored competition. Competitors
must not borrow from professional sports questionable techniques for
winning at any cost.
CYO participants should have a spirit of loyalty to Catholic ideals,
to parish, to coach, and to the team. They should learn patience with
and tolerance of those with less ability. They should feel grateful
to all who make the program happen. Speech and actions should reflect Christian values.
SJV CYO sponsors the following sports:
- Fall Soccer: The SJV Soccer Club is a member of the Northern Valley Youth Soccer League
- Cross Country (Gr K-8): Runners compete in 4 grade-level groups at a variety of events in the Lehigh Valley.
Courses range from ½-mile to 2 miles, depending on age.
There are 6-7 races in a season, usually held on Sundays at 2:00 PM. SJV XC conducts practice twice a week, starting in mid August, and is held in the Allentown Rose Garden area near the picnic pavillions.
The team is coached by Mr. Mike Romanic, a veteran of the Boston and the Marine Corps marathons.

In some cases events are combined for the sake of time. The longest running event is 800m (for 7th & 8th), and 400m relays are contested in
6th & 7th grades. Field events include a jumps and the shot put for boys and softball throw for girls.
