Reverend Mr. Ricardo Ceballos
Deacon at the Cathedral Church

I was born in Bogota, Colombia, where 87% the people are Catholic, and moved to the USA at the age of 16. I was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for many years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I moved to Whitehall, Pennsylvania in 2004 with my wife Ingrid and our two beautiful children, Yessid and Yulissa. I taught catechism classes for four years at Sacred Heart Church in Allentown with Monsignor John Grabish.

I’m a system engineer, worked for IBM for 15 years before being laid off in 2009. However, I continue working in the field of technology, Today I’m an industrial IT Analyst for Techo-Bloc in Pen-Argyl PA

I began my preparation as a deacon in 2009 after being laid off from IBM the same year. I believe that God had that planned for me from the beginning of time. During the time of my preparation, I always asked the Lord: “Why me?” Then I realized that God always calls you when you least expect it and he will instruct you and give you all the tools you need. I prayed to the Holy Spirit during those six years to grant me the gift of preaching His Word. I see too many people suffering who want to hear the good news of the Gospel today.

I was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on April 25, 2015 and was assigned to Our Lady of Mercy parish in Easton with Father Keith Laskowski. I served there for one and one half years. Today I enjoy working for the Lord and his people at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena. I also enjoy playing soccer on Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons. My pride and joy is my grandson Jowell, who I call Emmanuel and He is two years new.

Que Dios nos bendiga!

Amen.
