Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)
All young people attending Non-Parochial elementary schools should be registered with Cathedral Parish's
Religious Education Program. According to Diocesan Regulations all students participating in the CYO
program must be enrolled and participating in either the Catholic School or the Parish Religious
Education Program (PREP).
What's in a Name?
Many parishes have changed the name of their Religious Education Program from "CCD" to "PREP."
It seems that many people did not know what CCD stands for. Back in the early part of the 20th
century, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine
was formed to help Catholic immigrants to stay close to the Faith. The Cathedral parish uses the acronym PREP,
which stands for Parish Religious Education Program
to designate what had been called CCD for so many years!
