Cathedral School Home

The Cathedral Home & School Partnership reconvened in early spring to aggressively put together fresh ideas for the coming 2008-2009 school year. The Cathedral HSP, comprised of eager parents and staff, worked diligently to organize new and exciting events for the students and families. Our first annual Back to School BBQ on September 6 was put together to kick off our 80th school year.

In addition to our established yearly activities such as Lights in the Parkway, Golf Tournament, Chocolate Festival, and Walk-a-thon...Cathedral's yearlong calendar will be packed with fun new events such as Bring Special Someone to Lunch days for each grade. Plus, our Casino Night in February 2009 will sure to be an evening to remember. Games, good food and high-quality auction items are sure to please the adults. The students will be participating, too. Each grade will work together on fine art projects to be auctioned off on this special night. A separate committee has been formed to bring back and coordinate the 7th and 8th grade dances. In June, we will round out with an Ice Cream Festival to celebrate the closing of another wonderful school year.

We have an incredible amount of motivated Volunteers this year. A few will be creating an Alumni Outreach in order to establish a database of Cathedral graduates. Others will be working to boost enrollment by contacting local preschools. In addition, a New Family Liaison will be making the incoming families feel welcome at Cathedral.

Other changes will be more visible. An entirely new yearbook staff has been established to give the Cathedral yearbook a whole new look. We are also pleased to announce a completely redesigned and updated website. The new and improved site will have everything to offer from monthly calendars, lunch menu, upcoming events, classroom pages and more. The Cathedral School newspaper, The Wildcat Herald, will be going to print by early fall complete with student written articles. Most importantly, Cathedral Cash has officially gone global. Parents, parishioners and friends can now shop online in return for Cathedral Cash credit percentages.

The Board has been extremely busy these past few months. However, there is always more to do. Cathedral School cannot function without our dedicated volunteers. So, please consider volunteering or attending a Board meeting to get in on the fun of making Cathedral School a great place to be!

The Cathedral Home & School Partnership
