There are approximately 300 students currently enrolled in grades K - 8. The school also operates an active pre-school program for children ages 3 and 4, and offers extended-care services. Nineteen lay teachers instruct students in a core curriculum including religion, mathematics, reading, social studies, science, language arts, spelling, reading, and handwriting. Specialties such as art, music, computer eduction, health & physical education, and library are also offered.
Philosophy of Cathedral SchoolCathedral School exists to serve the Catholic families of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown, as well as non-parishioners who can benefit from the educational opportunities offered in our Christ-centered school environment. As an extension of the family, Cathedral School exists to teach Catholic Doctrine and to form its students in the Catholic faith, to promote academic excellence, to build community, to encourage service to others, and to develop abilities which will encourage its students to become productive members of society. This is a continued commitment made at the time of Baptism when parents promised to "be the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith...bearing witness to the faith by what they say and do, in Christ Jesus our Lord." It is within this Christ-centered atmosphere that we endeavor to accomplish these goals.
